Collingham Computer Café

It is now two years since Collingham’s ‘Computer Café’ opened.  Designed to introduce beginners to the joys, and frustrations, of on-line life, our first beginners are now proficient users who are able to use their laptops and iPads to send and receive emails, take and attach photographs and shop online.

As expertise has grown there have been talks on more advanced subjects but we now feel that it is time to go back to basics.

We need your help:

-  Are there still people out there who want basic help with tablets and phones?

-  Do you want a 6 week course?

-  Do you want somewhere where you can drop in and ask questions?

-  Would you like the Café to provide a home made buffet lunch, without bothering with computers - perhaps with other topics of interest?

There will be no Computer Café in January or February while the team of volunteers evaluates what people want. If there is a wish for it to continue it will re-open in March.

Please let us have your ideas using the email link below.

Collingham Computer Café has now been running successfully for over 18 months.

It is aimed at people of all ages and experience who want support as they make greater use of their own laptops and tablets and more than 100 people have made use of the facilities since the Café opened its doors in January 2017.

Each session starts with a short presentation on an aspect of use eg: emails, shopping, photography etc. This is followed by an opportunity to share ideas and seek individual support from a knowledgeable ‘Computer Volunteer’.

A light lunch is available -  home-made soup, baked potato, salad, homemade cakes etc. A charge of £2 is made to cover running costs. Food charged as eaten and free coffee and tea is available throughout each session.

We hope you will grab your laptop or tablet and drop in for all, or part, of the session and learn how to make your computer do more for you.
